I picked up my super cute 8 week old yorkie on saturday, he doesn't need worming for three weeks but needs flea treatment which is fine, I use frontline for my poppy cat so will use the same for Ollie, now the thing is the breeders asked me not to get his vaccinations done till he was sixteen weeks because he is so small. I've looked everywhere to see if this is right but no mention of anything like it anywhere, my gut feeling is to get him done straight away this week but would like a bit of advice just to put my mind at rest. Thanks

Your puppy sounds great, i would give your vet a call, as they will know what they use and what age is ok for any breed.:)
Dont forget to let us see some pics, i shall look forward to them.:)
Enjoy your pup and have fun with him .:)

Again I would ck with vets.
But I would far rather my pup be protected against potentialy fatal disease.
The fact that the pup is small should have no bearing on the vaccine....a great dane pup gets the same amount of vaccine as a chihuahua pup.
If u can ensure that u r able to keep ur pup away from all other dogs for the next 2 months and miss out on valuable socialisation then fine.
I would pref to get mine done and out and about as soon as pos;)

I breed Pom's and they are about the same size as a yorkie pup at 8 weeks and my pups have their fist vaccine by the time they are 8 weeks, the soon they are done the beter as others have said he will miss out on vital socialising time.

    Take care

I have two chihuahua's and both are small and they both had their vaccines done at my vets with no problems, I also got worming and flea treatments at the same time from my vets. Take your little one to your vet to checked over and he will tell you exactly what little one can and cant have. 16 weeks is far to old to leave it. It needs socializing in early days so the sooner the better. And yes the chihuahua's, toy yorkies etc have the same amount of vaccine as a great dane and larger breeds. sounds weird but it is true. Have fun with the little one once everything is done, we would like to see some photos of his aswell. I also love yorkies especially the ones that look like little teddy bears. soooooo cute. xxxxxxxxx
