My Ridgeback bitch is soon to whelp (within days) what I wanted to know was, we had a slip mating on the 22nd March (day 12) then 2 further ties on day 14 and day 16.

During the slip mating there was definite bodily fluid produced as the remnants of it could be seen on the patio of the studs home. The dog was held in position for a very short while.

Do I count the slip mating or the first tie as day 1. Just wanted to be aware of her actual due date to ensure i do not leave it too late to get her to the vets if she goes too over due.

Any advice welcome, negative comments not so much ;-)

    Thanks

I count the last day mating as day 0 Its not usual for a bitch to stand to be mated after she has gone over

OOooooohhh now i really am confused. lol

Everything i read contradicts something else along the same lines. I am sure I am a little over read to be honest.

Nature will take it's course, i have the vet on standby and will take her by thursday/friday if nothing happens.

Thank you very much for your reply

Just make sure you don't allow her to go over 64 days from the last mating

You should be doing it about 3-4 times a day, once you notice a drop of more than 0.5C Start taking it every hour :) They'll always be someone online to help talk you through it if you need us :)

    Hi thanks for asking,
She is hot and uncomfy, but has eaten and seems pretty chilled, her temp is staying at a steady 37.6 - 37.8 and not dropping. I am taking my other bitch to the vet this afternoon for her jabs so will have chance to get the last few things sorted with them.

Just a waiting game, i am sure it was easier waiting for my own children to arrive ;-)

I really wouldn't leave her at all now. I am with them constantly from day 56. I never leave the house other than to take her a short walk. Can someone else not take your other one to the vets?

Hi, my husband is coming home from work before then, so she will not be left alone. We are even sleeping downstairs from tonight :) There may be 5 mins where James has to leave to get our eldest and may not be back in time for me leave for the vets but other than that she is getting 24 hour VIP care lol

Lol. You are a glutton for punishment :D . Most go off their food towards the last couple of days.

glutton for punishment is one word for it, the other is probably crazy :D She has been a picky eater through most of her pregnancy, but Tripe, she usually rubs her face around the rim of her bowl and behaves in a very odd manner, oh well more for the other dog, not that she looks like she needs the extra food. lol
