I am looking to see if anyone can shed anymore light or possible thoughts on a recent diagnosis of my dog.... I have a 2.5 year old Cavapoo. 4 months ago we noticed he started swallowing quite a-lot and it sounded like his mouth was quite wet constantly (no visible drooling). He wakes in the night and does it most of the day. This is also accompanied by excessive yawning/jaw stretching and just general restlessness. Doing odd things like asking to go outside and just sleeping out there, and for a dog thats attached to us at the hip, its odd! He also sometimes wakes in the night or from a nap and will pant? He is totally himself on walks and when he sees a ball - but other than that he is very lethargic and almost depressed? 2 visits to my vet, they were useless and found nothing. I changed vet and she found he had ever so slight gingivitis of his back tooth and swollen salivary glands. She said the next step is sedation and we can take a good look - so this is what we did. She cleaned all his teeth and said the back tooth wasnt too bad, the gum should sit nicely back down. However, she said the left salivary gland is swollen and it is something she has not really come across before. She said it is either a disorder to do with excitment (sialadenosis????) or calcium deposits within the gland - Sialolithiasis??? I cannot find any information on this. He has started Epihphen for the first potential issue and if its still there then he will need surgery. I am so worried that his symptoms arent to do with this swelling? or what an earth are these 2 conditions?!?
