Excuse the mess.

Kes is having a seriously fat phase right now. I cut her food down over a month ago and she was looking pretty trim after a while, the past few days she's gotten ever so podgy again too. I've heard of a gangly teenage phase, but not a fat one.

Correlate her food with her exercise.

She looks so sweet - good job we know the truth though ain't it! :p

She's very sweet, thank you for sharing!
Milo is getting fat too all of a sudden... I thought I was doing really well with his food but I must have got my measurements wrong.
I'm giving Kes about half of what she used to and she has still put on tons of weight somehow. This morning I think the mince I gave her can't have been more than 150g (she's 40kgs+ so 2% of her body weight should be 800g per day). Last night her fish dinner was <300g. Looks like I'll have to cut her down even more. :( It's hard because she loves her food.

Mines the same, LIVES for food. Sits on his bum and waves his paws if he's hungry / wants a treat (all of the time). Good luck with Kes, hopefully we will crack it!

Just a thought, if you're struggling with getting her out in the evenings for long walks unlike our summer walks, why not take her to Charlies Gym for a swim? It's in Stapleford so not too far. The only problem is, it's a bit costly, but one swim a week and you should see the difference in a few weeks, Leanne's took her lot and they're toning up and losing weight. They have a treadmill too.

Charlies Gym A Gym for Dogs, for all your dogs needs

Give them a ring and check if they take pups though..

There's a hydrotherapy pool in Hucknall, but they want a vets note for it.

Bit out of my price range at the moment I think. It's not so much the evening walks but I think not having the car the past few days hasn't helped as she's only had road walking instead of going out somewhere. Will be nipping down to Bulwell Hall after lunch today though (yay for half days!). :)

I love the first 2 photos, she is just so smoochable :001_wub: :001_wub: I think in her defence the winter is coming so it pays to have a bit more weight on to help keep warm and really she is saving you money as she won't need a coat ;)

She looks lovely!

Can Kes have a word with Bess and explain to her that FOOD is nice? Bess will wolf down treats or chews, but actual food she really can't be bothered with. (she doesn't get a chew until she's eaten her food).
Only if Bess can explain portion control to our Kes.

She looks like butter wouldn't melt :aureola:.

It must be hard cutting her food down that much if she's food oriented - perhaps add some veg or something as bulk if she's looking for more?

Hmm good idea, I've started giving her more yoghurt and things to bulk out, she needs a bit of coaxing to eat veg, she always wants pudding first. :D

Pudding? Lucky dog!

Yoghurt can be pretty calorifically dense so may add weight if she's getting a lot; I'd look at light calorie stuff that will add a bit of bulk if she is hungry.

Getting weight onto Kilo is hard, off Kes is hard....just like humans with straight hair wanting curly and vice versa .

Good point, I'll try and get some low cal tubs in this weekend instead of normal stuff. Why didn't I think of that?

And yes, she has the opposite problem to most, contrary just just like her owners. :D I remember when I was a teenager all my friends were on diets and no matter how much I ate I just couldn't put on weight.

Awww, she is a gorgeous looking girlie!:D (and your house reminds me very much of mine, clutter central!LOL;)).
Both of my Chi's could do with losing abit of weight really as well. They arent fat as such, just could do to be streamlined somewhat! I find it so hard to cut down on their food though when they already eat such teeny amounts.
Maybe we should all start a doggy weight watchers thread!:D
