    Hi guys

Our 9 week bullmastiff pup has been really lethargic for the last 18 hours. He is eating and drinking, and toileting as normal but inbetween is just floppy and constantly sleeping! We have only had him home a week but this is opposite to his usual behaviour. He is a chilled sleepy dog anyway, but we usually get 15 mins every hour of mad pup who wants to play! This last day there hasn't been any of that. He isn't in any obvious pain, we have checked all over and prodded gently in the tummy but nothing. He only wakes or moves when we pick him up to take him outside for a wee, and after that he takes himself off to his crate and lays down to sleep. We are off to the vets the day after tomorrow for his 2nd Jab but we are worried. Has anyone experienced this? Any advice would be great.

When did he have his first vaccination?

It could be a reaction to his 1st vacs but after 13 days? Possible but not normal. I would be asking for a vet appointment tomorrow to get him checked over, if he's poorly then the 2nd vac should be delayed.

I'd see a vet asap, his just a baby and really needs checking over just to make sure there isn't an under lying problem.

Let as now how he gets on.

Oh and pictures please, we just love to see puppies.

Acting depressed and uninterested in things and playing, being lethargic and sleeping more, is quite often a sign that they are incubating an illness or some sort. Its often one of the first things you see before any other symptoms, so I would get his checked out to see if he might have a temperature or something. Pups especially large breeds do tend to have periods of high activity followed by periods of rest/sleep but if he is like it all the time and its really out of character and come on sudden I would get him checked out. Sometimes pain its always obvious either without a proper full exam.

You may find he wont be able to have his 2nd jabs at the moment, puppies or dogs, that are unwell, incubating an illness, or even if its highly suspected that that they could be incubating an illness shouldn't be vaccinated.
