Can anyone help with this problem? Our 7 year old bichon frise has started weeing in the house. We have installed a cat flap, which is left open so he can go outside in case the problem is we don't hear him asking to go outside- the back door is quite a way from the lounge. Yesterday afternoon, he wee'd inside near the door, it was raining outside so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. This evening he has made a puddle about 5 feet inside from the OPEN back door, no effort to go outside at all. What is going on? I can't go on with puddles like this! Any ideas anyone? Thanks.

first and foremost get him vet checked to rule out the possibility of a urine infection or kidney stones. if the test prove positive it can be treated and the problem should resolve itself. if not then some detective work will need to be done.

monitor him really closely and whip him out into the garden as soon as you see him squatting or cocking his leg

has anything changed in his daily routine?
    have you changed his food?
is he drinking more than usual?
has his home environment changed in any way?
has anything spooked him in the garden? does he willingly go into the garden when he doesnt want the toilet?
can you think of anything else that may have triggered this behaviour?

    hope this helps

Thanks Gilly. If he continues for a few more days with this we will take him to the vet and get him checked out. Nothing has changed recently, we moved house six months ago, but the problem has got worse this last 6 weeks. He is quite happy to go into the garden at other times, anf thankfully is pooing in the garden, it's just peeing!!!!
