    chipped does not = trackable - only that, assuming his owners registered the chip # & have their CURRENT phone, address, vet contact, etc, he can be both identified when he's scanned for a chip, & his family can be contacted to re-unite them.
    .
    Out of date info in a registered chip's file is useless for reaching the owner -- or the owner's vet; if the phone #, address, 2ndary contact info, etc, is not kept UTD, it's not useful.

    We don't know the details! Let's keep sharing, that's far more proactive.

    Very unlikely a 13 week old puppy would have " out of date details"

    @jhosk1981 ,
    No, they cannot use a chip to "track" a lost pet. Scanning can only be done at very close distances, & only to read the #.
    .
    also, FYI, to quote myself above, UTD contact info is needed to reach the owner or their proxy - this is filed under the pet's chip #.
    There's usually a small fee to update files; in the U-S, $2 to $3 - but the alternative is a chip that can't be used to reunite pet & owner.
