Hi there,

I currently have 5 that totally rule my life along with the kids and Hubby:lol: and i wouldn't be without them.

I started off with Fancies but please don't be fooled into thinking they are anything like that.

Best advice i can give is:

1) do your research there are loads of good sites on the internet that has bag loads of info about them

2) avoid pet shop GPR's/EPR's! Find a good breeder who won't mind you coming and having a look at their animals before you commit.

There are a lot of people taking on ferral pouched rats and not realising what their taking on and i'm starting to see an increase in the number that are being re-homed because people were hoping for a nice cuddly rat. These haven't been domesticated yet. Handled early enough by the breeder and they can be wonderful but if you decide to take one on that hasn't had the handling then please don't give up on it.

Even the hand tame ones need a lot of work to keep them like that so will require daily out time with you.

Please let me know if you need anymore advice.

They can grow from tip of nose to tip of tail anywhere between one and a half feet to 3 feet

My biggest is somewhere between 2ft -2.5ft and he's a big boy!:D

The tame ones make wonderful pets and if you're able to accept that you won't be able to cuddle it the not so tame ones do as well as they are just fasinating to watch when they are up and about. i love them all.
