Anyone recommend a good body building cat food for a just 2 year old cat.
Thank you

The general rule of thumb is to feed wet or complete raw food vs dry food. Look for wet food with low carbs and no sugar.
It is possible to make your own raw meal for your cat, using a mix as a completer (to give all the nutrients) . Or you can buy premixed raw food that is already complete.

Some good brands you can buy on Zooplus UK or locally in the UK are Meowing Heads, Feringa (ZP), Purr and Meow, Lily's Kitchen, Rosie's Farm (ZP)

Back to square one with Barley. Shes not keen on any of these new wet feeds.

So tonight i lightly cooked some lean minced beef. I noticed a certain little cat’s nose twitching .... dished some out onto a plate and offered it to her - BINGO.

Guess lean minced beef will be on my weekly shopping list for the foreseeable....

Hi,
That was a lot of new foods in a few days, three, as you tried Scrumbles, as well I think?
I tend to give food a few tries over a period of a few weeks, if not accepted right away.
How many foods is Barley used to eating? If not much of a variety she may be stuck on what she is used to.
It sometimes can take a little while to see a new food as food.

I wanted to introduce a mono protein pork from Stuzzy and my cat Jack ate it straight away, my other cat Biggles did the sniff and walk away.
Then I used Orijen freeze dried treats crumbled on top and he would eat it when offered, with the treat topper
It took a little while till he would eat it without the topper.

But if she likes raw then you can try this:

it is more a case of getting her to eat, anything. She has lost weight winter to summer. Vet says she is fine. However if her appetite does not pick up soon I am going to insist on tests being carried out as this is not normal. She is a big Cat and not eating enough to fill a sparrow. I would give/buy anything if she would eat it. She is only just 2 years old and still maturing.

They would get a variety - Gourmet Gold, Applaws (I know its not complete), HiLife, Natures Menu, Felix AGAIL. Jelly only. Meat is left. Vet says that is ok as they are getting the moisture from Felix. They get chicken breasts chopped up 2-3 times a week. They also get a sensitive dry food as Harley likes to graze.

Wet food is offered three times a day

Neither likes raw unfortunately.

Thank you for the link, I will go check it out now

Fingers crossed it’s nothing but very sensible to get her checked out even just to put your mind at rest.

Is she a specific breed? I only ask as my Norwegians drop quite a bit of weight. The girls go from 5kg to about 4.2kg and Loki (Male neuter) drops from around 7kg to just over 6kg as they are very active in the summer in the evening/ overnight. They also eat little in the day as it’s too hot so spend most of the day having a snooze under a bush.

In the winter they spend most of there day in side, near food. Their behaviour changes significantly as we have a sure flap connect cat flap we see how much their behaviour pattern changes.

Hi
Yes she is a British Short Hair. Unless it is something like happens with yours. Both of them are house-cats and they have a Catio.
