Lionel is registered as a silver blue tabby but lately he seems to be getting a lot of golden/brown tones around his face and all over his back, it looks very beautiful and seems to be coming out more and more!
Ive tried investigating what this is and apparently its a silver blue tabby patched from what i can make from the internet.
Is this right? Do any of you maine coon owners have this colour? Can i see pics if so?
ha ha! Yeah they certainly do...he stalks them all but more so Martha! The others are all getting a nice rest from being attacked since she arrived!
They are all getting along fine so far! They all put each other in their place if they arent happy and they all play together so its all good at the moment!
I would say tarnish/rufousing as well, good blues should also have patina - a peach coloured undercoat that can show more as they age.
Rufousing will often show on the face and paws, as that's where the fur is shortest and can also show up on the body, a high grade silver will be clear all over.
Does it look like this Kelly? Gizmo our neuter girl has a lot of tarnishing on her back and legs. It is more obvious in the summer, although she hasn't had it as much the last couple of years hence these pics are a couple of years old. I think it adds to her character
Rafferty is registered as a blue tabby, although he looks more like pictures of blue silver tabbies to me than any blues. I haven't actually met a blue tabby to compare him to. I'm. Not sure he'll be much use but here are a couple pictures .he has plum paw pads. I've just always assumed he had particularly strong tabby markings?
I was going to say tarnish as well. Willow is a silver tabby but as she got older her tarnishing appeared - I think it looks gorgeous, but I think they get marked down for it if showing x

Huck is very tarnished and not show quality at all. But he is registered as a black mackerel tabby.
I've tried to find a picture that shows up the tarnishing around his nose and mouth and on his chest and body. In some pictures he looks much browner than on others and it tends to be more obvious in the summer.

Huck is soooo handsome, love looking at his pictures!
Dexter isn't show quality apparently he's a hot cream so not as dark as a red but not as light as a cream, I think this makes him unique, he's perfect to me.
OP if you do fancy showing there is always pet quality competitions you can enter

Its strange how my Lionel is spitting image of Rafferty and Huck but yet all 3 of them are known as different colours!
