After nearly 9 months of progress in small steps with my extremely timid and fragile 6 year old moggy Molly, for the first time this morning she actually demanded that I stroke her.
Every time I walk past her she looks at me so I give her a kind word and a stroke or tickle, but this time she leaped off the chair with a mrr before I had a chance to get near her and wound herself round my ankles. I stopped and she immediately lay down in position for a head and neck massage without her usual unsure go away / come back dance. Her tail was still waving quite hard but that's only because it's so difficult for her to deal with craving affection and being afraid of accepting it.
This is a huge leap forward for her and I'm so proud of my beautiful girl.
How lovely!
I know the feeling, it takes SUCH a long time but these little improvements mean so much
Mia is similar to Molly in that she wants affection but is unsure, she's come a long way now. These past few days she's been jumping on the sofa next to me (looking at me, then immediately jumping off!)
Fantastic, I hope she continues to learn it's ok to be loved!

It's so hard isn't it when you just want to cuddle them and kiss them for being so sweet and special and you just can't do it, then they come up with something amazing and you just go wow, that wouldn't have happened if I'd tried to rush things.
Awww that is fantastic news. Well done to you and Molly for getting to this point in your journey together. Hopefully this is the first of many more affectionate moments and Molly lays claim to your lap before too long.

That seems too much to ever hope for but I've noticed I am allowed to stroke more over her shoulders now than before and last night she sat on the arm of the sofa next to me. She keeps coming to sit near me and wants something but if I reach out she does a little hop, tail high and skits off again.
Well done, girl!!!!!!
She is finally getting the message that cuddles are nice and humans aren't scary :thumbup1:
