Buying drugs online

Do any of you ask your vet for a prescription allowing you to buy drugs (such as Advocate) online to save money?

My vet charges £25(ish) for 3 months of Advocate; at Vetuk the same amount would buy me 6 months...

Will the vet do it? And how much might I expect to pay for the service? I'm popping in tomorrow to pick up some Advocate, but wondered if you lovely lot could arm me with some info before I go.

Ta V Much! x

For those of you interested...just heard back from our vet's office that they won't charge for writing a prescription for Advocate (3 or 6 months worth). This is incredible. It means that I currently pay £25 for 3 months from the vet; I can now get 6 months from VETUK for the same price!

Tin of choccys for the vet's office me thinks!!

Is this the norm? Cause I'd have happily paid a fair amount as long as it still meant a saving.

It is very good of him not to charge for a prescription. Mine charges £10, but for future reference you may like to know that he is obliged by law to provide a prescription. He doesn't have a choice.

Mine doesn't charge his regular customers for prescriptions, which is good of him because I know the vet my son uses for his dog charges £29, which often cancels out any saving that could be made using the prescription to buy elsewhere!

Just for signing a bit of paper? That's disgusting. With Viovet you print off one of their prescriptions, fill it in and just get the vet to sign it.
