Thank you for the rep the oh they want to wear it and our saying they shouldn't undermines their cultural rights concerns me. I have yet to see anyone successfully argue that the veil is an essential part of their faith and culture. On those grounds I could argue that wearing a Robin Hood hat and carrying a bow and arrow is part of my culture.

Yes indeed! I wondered about the ban, because she was still listed as a member. We shall see what we shall see. I welcomed her because I wondered if she would reveal the cause of her absence, but of course not!

You'd only ever see it if you went into my profile :) I see a certain Geordie is back

i have no idea - & really, i don't want to think about it.
Obviously, those children, pathetic & haunting & stunted as they were,
had known nothing else. This was "home".
What would life become for someone who HAD a mind, in such a place?
Even thinking about it is a nightmare. :nonod:

Thank you for the rep its so sad when someone doesn't take simple steps to protect a dog and child.

It was, indeed - she toured the state-run orphanages, among other
things, & saw children who were 12-YO still sleeping in crib-like beds,
unable to straighten their bodies, in fetal pose, wearing diapers -
they HAD NEVER been spoken to, urged to get up & learn to crawl,
etc. They were now lifelong infants.
There were hundreds of children who did not play or smile or talk -
they simply stared, but without curiosity, only dull disinterest.
The institutionalized children, products of a ban on birth control &
a terrible economy where women could not FEED their children,
      haunted her for years.
For the 1st time, she saw what a government edict banning all
contraception, plus a policy encouraging women to stay home &
let MEN have the jobs that paid money, could do: create entire
generations of profoundly retarded, neglected, stunted children,
who were not "the future" but a drain on the public purse.

      That's great, thanks for that.

i thought s/he opened another thread when the first didn't get enuf
immediate replies, & that the dog was euthed in 2 days time?...

As it was the same scenario:
new adoptee, inadequate support, biting the adopter, unpredictable.
Perhaps i have this case confused with another? [Could be.]
    16. MoggyBaby
You are most welcome and most worthy of it. :)

I share my home with my husband, daughter, 2 dogs and 2 cats. One of them is a kleptomaniac. The other is a murderer. (er - that's the cats I'm talking about - not the OH or The Girl)

I worked as a Speech and Language Therapist but am now retired. I am also a church Reader.

ANIMALS! Nature, theology, history, reading, walking, talking.
