We're doing ok, struggling a bit but I hope we'll get there. It's just heartbreaking how difficult her life has been so far, and we really don't want to add any more stress into the mix for her.

I wanted to say thankyou for all your positive words and kind thoughts- considering you have a lot going on anyway at the moment it's really appreciated that you're offering your thoughts and experiences to strangers on a forum. Her & Toby (my other older dog) are very different; Toby loves new things, Roxy doesn't, Toby always plays the clown whilst Roxy always tries to get things 'right', Roxy can be so bossy but Toby is so laid back ... but they both make me laugh so much & my new addition (Archer, GSD pup) has certainly livened things up for them .....

Same here with Roxy. It was particularly as for me as Roxy hasn't been well lately & despite all the problems we had initially she is my world & I love her to bits.
I think, at times, people (me included) can build up what we expect the relationship to be like & sometimes it just isn't like that. I kept comparing Roxy to Toby which I shouldn't have, she was so different & as hard work as she was initially, she is an amazing dog :)

It is nice everyone wants to pet her but I wish they would ask first. She calmed down loads lately but she still jumps a little and for young kids that can't be nice. There one little girl who on number times tried taking the lead off me. I keep telling her no but what can you do. I tend to avoid kids as they and Bella just gets excited and will lead to one of them getting hurt as they do just wave hands in front of her! You would never go up to a child and start petting saying how cute so why should a dog be different! I think going to find better park to walk her in.
