Mother and baby doing well, nearly 2 weeks old now, slightly feathery, eyes open, cheeping for food and stretching wings. Once again will 3 birds be too much in a small cage? What age will it leave the nest. How will I know if it is a male or a female?

Help! My canary who I thought was too old to be fertile, having produced 6 eggs (I got rid of 4) has just hatched one, 1 remains unhatched. The couple were given to me so I am a complete tyro. I feed as normal, seed, millet, plenty of water, plus some hard boiled egg and shell, apple and wild grasses. Is there anything else I should do? Will 3 birds be too many in a small cage. How will I know if it is male or female and at what stage can I consider the other egg as infertile? The first one hatched 3 days ago.
How long do the babies take to mature. Jacqui
