Hi sorry not been on here for a while - too busy cross stitching Ruff! No i don't think you have left it too late just introduce her slowly until you can eventually touch her with the clippers so she can feel how they vibrate. Little and often and reward her when she sits still. You will get there. If shes long try scissoring her sometimes they don't mind but persivere with the clippers its easier in the long run. I did do a dog grooming course was quite good but tended to show you all the show clips. Good luck if hope it helps x

hi, aye your not kidding they can be quite ferocious, especially where there are signets involved. mind my friend's professional dog groomer. what food are you giving her and have you thought what food she will be taking as an adult dog.

hello, at least when you went out sandy was really good, clever girl. ah well still at learning stage. max and i had a great walk again this morn, jenny couldn't make it. when he was down at platform near river, he never goes in, or waters just past his paws, that's enough for him, there were 4 swans approaching, 2 adults and 2 signets, beautiful. male swans wings started to go out, and max sensed danger and ofcourse ran back up to my side, as if to say, "aw **** what was that". he stayed beside me until swans moved on, hilarious. say hi to all from us here. ttfn

hi, glad walkies are going a bit better now. sandy's smart she'll catch on really quickly. when are you posting more pics of her, she's lovely. our max didn't much care for his kong either, whether food it in or not, lol. helana, that owns a pet food and toy shop gave max a ball type shaped dooda, the tops twists shut, when max plays with it, but on turning top the treats come out and it's a really tuff toy, max has split it allready, i got it for nout as helana loves him other than that it was retailing at £7. he hasn't went near it since it split.lol. it wouldn't hurt him if he did ever want to play with it again though. hope your enjoying pf, knew you would sign up,lol.

Hi Al. I wonder what danger she perceived from the rubber toy? The cat did play with it once in a while so maybe she smelled Oscar from it. Hope she likes it now!

Ah thank you - its good to have another poodle fan on here! I cut Ruff in sort of a lamb clip did used to scissor him but too ages now use clippers for body and legs and scissor his head.
Your baby is beautiful - my neighbour has an apricot toy who is 5 months - we are gradually getting her used to being trimmed every 2 weeks, shes so bouncy n just wants to give kisses all the time! but i dont mind lol
Whats your little one called? x

I would personally trim the coat down slightly up to about 6 months then start to take more off. She will not moult so her coat will continue to grow and will get very difficult to keep tangle free and will take ages to dry if she gets wet. If you never clipped her it would start to cord (matt) and eventually get impossibly long. I have seen photos of corded poodles with coats right down to the ground - this was fashionable 100 years ago.

Why not go and talk to a groomer about it and come to some compromise that suits you and is agreed to by the groomer.

      And lets see some photos!

there is no law that says you need to clip but you will have a horrible, dirty , tangled dog unless you spend a great deal of time on the coat every day. If she is a pup then leave the coat alone and get face and feet clipped if you want to go that way. Personally I much prefer it. The groomer will get her used to being clipped by degrees if you do that. She will need bathing at least monthly to keep the coat nice. Bare in mind that the poodle coat does not have the same natural oils as other dogs so the coat will not self clean in the same way.
