Re: i think my torts are cool

Imagine a box with no lid, or a book case on it's back.... That is what a tortoise table/ table top enclosure looks like

I don't know anything about redfoots as I have hermann's and leopards, but they look very nice

This is the hermanns table

The Redfoots have plenty of spaces to hide, humid hide, artificial fronds of leaves and edible plants

Re: i think my torts are cool

Make a framework from wood to fit over the table and cover with a wire mesh. the type that you see Rabbit and guinea pig enclosures are made from. You could either have it hinged so it sits on the top, or so it fits over the sides of the table. We dismantled an old guinea pig run to reuse the panels as a lid for one of the outdoor enclosures. It stopped next doors cat getting in. We now have bigger enclosures with their own meshed lids.

Your local wood yard would be able to cut it to size for you.

Your sons torts are lovely, I do like redfoots.

A good alternative for people with cats and dogs (or toddlers!) to a table is an indoor rabbit hutch... you can buy these in huge sizes and it saves the trouble of making a cover yourself.

Re: i think my torts are cool

there are indoor rabbit cages that some people use for hatchlings outside, these come in different sizes upto about 4 or 5ft long, one type have a deep plastic bottom, plastic sides and a cage meshtop, the plastic sides will help prevent draughts and keep the warmth in, the other type are a deep plastic bottom, and a cage top. I have one of these for my little star when the weather is nice enough for her to go out.
