When we checked the chickens this morning, we had one very small egg. Yesterday we had three normal size eggs from our three chickens, but today only one small one. The chickens are two - three years old.
Does anyone know why we would get such a small egg?

It's called a wind egg, if you crack it, it will only have egg white in, but often there will be a small little grit piece instead of a yolk. Basically the body mistakes the grit for a yolk and forms this wind egg around it.

I have had quite a few in my time, they are nothing to worry about.

Well we finally got round to cracking the egg, and it did have a yolk inside. The yolk was broken, but there was definitley yellow when it was cracked. I didn't take any more photos, there wasn't anything else to see.
All chickens are laying again and we're getting at least a couple of usual sized eggs a day again now!
