We saw two buzzards not far from Slough last week , we're used to Red Kites along the M40 but were surprised to see the buzzards . An amazing sight .

It's the opposite way round here we've got buzzards and hardly ever see red kites

Found a queen wasp in my porch today, she was very groggy & slow so I'm wondering if she's just come out of hibernation, I thought they were all out now though. I caught her & put her outside, she stood there for ages so I fed her some sugar water & within 10 minutes she was off :) I think they're such stunning creatures.

Driving along a lane through a wooded area, spotted a Buzzard that flew across the road and onto a branch. Majestic! :)

The mason bees started emerging today, it was fascinating watching them come out, especially how quickly they chomp through the pulp.

Found a bee on my wing mirror, it was v slow moving and fell off my hand without flying. So i mixed up water and sugar. S/he lapped it up and began crawling all over my hands. As it was gone 7pm and V chilly i popped it on the bug hut. It shot in a hole and stayed there. Hope it's ok?

Today we saw in 20ft of woodland clearing : brimstone x 1, orange tip x 2, red admiral x 2, speckled wood x3, large white x 1, peacock possibly. Just a patch of sunshine and butterflies everywhere and fighting and tumbling in mid air. I caught some shots. PhotoGrid_1492902638318.png

The sun went in on the way back. Still pretty though.

I also saw some butterflies, I'm not sure what they are. Orange Tips?

    I'm guessing these were mating?

Went for a stroll in the local blue bell woods. Only 2 minutes from home and an old riding hack I used to do each weekend.
The weather was perfect. Dappled sunlight, no breeze. Real heart warming stuff.

    Beautiful photos @sarybeagle

Finally heard our first cuckoo tonight despite the foul weather. Same place as last year but about 10 days later.

We are very lucky as there seem to be quite a few in the area we walk although you have to be out late enough to see/hear them. This guy who takes fantastic photos walks quite often where we do and just look at what he saw this weekend - a red footed falcon  - Morden Bog is one of our regular spots, we were there over the weekend and my OH did see a bird he didn't recognise but no idea if it was this one

Not seen one of those in the wild either but I did know there was one in Somerset not long ago. We had a Hoopoe in Gloucestershire a couple of weeks ago - that was very exotic and lovely. Rubbish pics though as it was miles away.
