My my my... I wish I hadn't been so smug when hearing all of your tails of poo rollings and eau de deadfish! Sat here behind my computer screen, gently chuckling away to myself, quietly thanking the doggie gods that Betty is a prissy princess who hates getting her paws dirty.

Ruby is settling in very well, she is a lovely girl and she and Betty are more respectful and tolerant of each other. Betty has taught Ruby how to play and chase. Ruby has taught Betty that all the good dogs love a roll in the stinky stuff!

Ruby is well and truly a roller! Her fav is bird poo- which we have a lot of in the garden as we have loads of trees. Big ones too, not these little white splodges you see around, no no no- nice big green things- the wood pigeons in our trees are well fed!

I have been watching Betty pick up tips off Ruby, and while I find it disgusting and attempt to discourage them both, I can't help but giggle at Betty. It is clear she hasn't a clue what she is doing, she is just copying Ruby like an impressionable little sister. Ruby rubs her neck and shoulders on the poo, so Betty looks at the ground and throws herself chin first at a patch of grass. I don't think she quite knows what she is supposed to be achieving but as long as Ruby is doing it..!

In other news we finally made it to the vet for a check over (I have been so busy at the moment I haven't had a second chance to think about it). The Vet agrees that she is older than 2- I am thinking 3 or 4. She is in good nick, apparently, she has a little lump next to one of her teats which the Vet said he will remove when she has her spay. He also said he is happy to spay her now as he doesn't think she is coming into season- but I would quite like her to settle in a bit more. She is due to go back for some more jabs- I have no history of vaccs- so I might book her in then.

He was also supportive when he asked what I was feeding her and I told him that she was on a raw diet with Betty. Complemented that she seems to be doing well on it and hopefully it will help to sort her teeth out.

Yay for the good news, boo for the poo rolling lessons!

I'm really pleased Ruby's settling in so well and now feels comfy enough to be a bad influence :D

Mine's a poo/iffy mud/wee roller, too, and I love watching the utter joy he gets from stinking himself up (although neither of us enjoys the inevitable bath when we get back home). I look at it the same way as I do with the kids - the filthier they are, the more fun they've probably been having :D

I'm glad to hear she is settling in well and Jeffrey is glad to hear Betty is getting the hang of stinky rolling! :D I too was smug when I read about people's dog's rolling in something ridiculously disgusting, even more so when it was back up with photo evidence :p

Jeff didn't get the hang of rolling, he threw himself down NEXT to the dead worm or bird poo or other offending stinkyness and didn't even touch it. I was fine with this, he thought he was rolling in it but I was getting a clean dog = winners all round! :thumbup1:

However, when I was sponging the bird poo off him this morning after our walk I wasn't so smug....

heehee your rudy posts do make me giggle, all the sir kilo and his cleanliness just to have rudi whos a roller, im sorry just makes me laugh.

I am soooo thank ful mine arent poo rollers, but they def learn things from each other, grizzler has one big bear that he dummies, sucks it whilst he sleeps its so cute and funny and zelda has copied him and now only on that same soft toy bear she will do the same... every other soft toy gets ripped, plucked and destuffed.

Glad ruby is settling in well, it just takes time, took grizz months before he would allow zelda to settle near him.
