any ideas to what it could be? it was sitting on my wall earlier but i've never seen one like this before

its a "Pisaura mirabilis"

no common name for it in my book!

This is a "bee fly" i found in my garden, the stingy lookin bit is its nose end!(the proboscis)for feeding on flowers.
