Hello everyone my names Victoria. I've recently bought a Goliath beetle larvae in the third stage. I'm having a bit of trouble with mites around Its eyes and spiracles, I've tried rubbing them off with warm water but there are a lot of them.
I'm just wondering if anyone knows a better way of getting rid of these mites, and if anyone has any more information on raising beetle larvae? Thanks ![]() |

Re: Beetle larvae?
hi saw this advice on bugnation.co.uk
As long as they are not absolutely covering the larvae and stressing it (particularly bad if they are covering the spiracles), then it shouldn't be a problem, but watch it closely as they multiply as a result of adding the protein food. If they get bad you can put the larvae in bone dry sandy soil - 50/50 dry potting compost and sand- for no longer than 24 hours, you should see the mites vanish (but sand and soil must be absolutely dry). I have a number of torquata about to hatch so I'll have larvae and maybe a spare male soon |
