help needed with pink toed spider

I bought a baby pink toed spider today. I was well chuffed couldn't wait till I got it home. I named it lex and after setting up his cage I couldn't wait for him/her to crawl out of the box onto my hand to put him/her in. Cept he sprinted I paniced like a girl and bascially left it to my scared husband to deal with while i ran into the liveing room from kitchen..

I was not aware i was going to be scared of this spider as I had been touching it and going aww all the way home. Its like the whole fast thing just put me off and I cant go near it.

I tried again earlier I attempted to get him out of his setting and as i softly touched his back legs with a paint brush to get him to walk out he launched at it and I screamed this time. My husband just said put the lid back on you aint ever going to hold it.

Part of me hates it but I think hes right so I called the shop and they said they will take it back tomorrow. But first I want to know if theres any advice I can have to help me before I do this because I do want to keep him/her.

Re: help needed with pink toed spider

You can't say that you will never hold it based on a couple of tries of holding your spider.

You have to give it time. Your pet is probably confused and stressed right now because they are in new surroundings.

Why don't you start a fresh tomorrow? You need to get used to your pet and it needs to get used to you!!
