New Brachypelma Smithi questions

Hello,I am thinking about geting one Brachypelma smithi for a pet,but I have a couple of questions about the tank setup.sSo I will be using an aqarium 60L,which is 50x42cm long and 45 cm tall.I read that the spider can easily climb the tank and fall an injure himself,so should I fill half of the tank with pot soil so that if he falls he does not hurt himself? Also I will have to get a massive wood to seal the aqarium,so that he does not escape, but will that result in lack of air for the tarantula?Thank you

HI! Felix66, good choice of 'T' for your first, your tank will be ok! if it is an adult or sub/adult, if you get a sling then you will need to house it in a small pot of some sort, as for the hight of the tank, well you are quite right in that you will need to have alot of substrate in it to stop your 'T' from falling & hurting its self,
also your 'T' will like to dig, so thats a good reason to have plenty of substrate
in its tank as well.
as for a lid, a solid piece of wood, would not be good you realy need to make something out of mesh small wholes & wire, your 'T' can & will try to ''chew'' out of this, so it will need to be solid, if you do use wood then cut big wholes in it & cover with the mesh(you can use a scum strainer,& cut it to size)
hope some of this has been of help to you, good luck with your new'T'
