Started work on my snakes fake rock set up!

Yesterday I got to work building an interior to my corn snakes viv, I never liked how boring it was with just a few hides and bit of decoration so thought I'd do something special and make a fake rock set-up! This is the stage I'm at currently, I've put in some shelves to place hides on and a large ledge for the snake to climb on! I reckon I will be grouting it on the Sunday!

Re: Started work on my snakes fake rock set up!

For anyone who's interested I've finished the fake rock build

And here's the lucky snake lol

Wasn't easy juggling this with Uni work but I got it finished lol

Will also buy a few more bits and bobs to put in there to make it look less barren!

Sorry for the late reply!

I measured out sheets of polystyrene I bought from B&Q then put them against the walls of the viv and joined the poly sheets up with cocktail sticks and waterproof PVA glue.

Then I stuck some ledges onto the sides and cut out shapes to stick on the walls to give a bit of a rocky effect...I also burnt in some rocky detail using a lighter (be careful not to burn your thumb doing this lol)

After that I smothered the whole thing in waterproof wall time grout...also added a touch of water-based orange paint to the grout so I could see where I applied it.

Then I painted it with water based paint and then gave it a coat of water proof PVA to seal it!
