jeff got out today


what the title says.
I was called form downstairs to find jeff (my 5 ft corn) in a cowboy hat, well half in it. I know i shut the doors after feeding him i always do

aww fadey has he escaped before? could he have opened the door maybe? as you can tell i know nothing about snakes but i love his name

this happend with one of our corns
she was missing for 5 whole weeks but she came back
it happend again to our other corn but she was only missing for 2 days and we found her trying to get round the washing machine

his never got out before unless we got him out.
i think she may have left the door open a little and he worked it the rest of the way open.

but the only place he can go in her room is up the chimmey.

What is going on hear? Has no one heard of viv locks? Im shocked by these posts.Lucky for both of you that you found your snakes but have you thought of what could happen if not found? Im know im gonna get jumpped on by posting this but please, its basic snake keeping.Reguardless on nature of snake a lock is essential.

Ok, our viv's have locks on all of them, we didn't no that they could get through the glass and when we found out they was getting out we put something between the glass (can't remember what its called).

We had locks on them from day 1.

(leanne is my daughter for those that don't no)

ok and guess i may have come across as being bit harsh and if im truthfull iv yet to come across any shop that informs people to put draught excluder between glass to stop escapes of small snakes.Im sorry original post was for a 5ft corn and there was no way that got through glass so im still advising owner gets viv lock

Ok no prob's. I couldn't think of the name (draught excluder). Shops should warn new snake owner's that they will escape through the smallest gap.
