It may be easier and cheaper but as i stated, my gerbils are pets, not feeders. I will not cull my own gerbils. Yes people breed their own rats/mice for their snakes but i don't breed my gerbils for my snake so i will not cull any of them.

The leaving water for a week was suggested by someone who has had 30+ years experience in royal care and it's worked for a number of people. I tried it, it didn't work.

I've had him for about 9 weeks now and i try feeding him the way he has always been fed.

Re: Tips to get Royals eating.

i guess i must be lucky with chicks mine love them (and have put on weight since we started feeding them along with mice and rats) but i have no trouble at all feeding them rats and mice again! but then mine arent fussy at all lol we do starve ours every few months for a few weeks as our snake vet said its best for thier digestion and doesnt get them to large (fat!)

What size does he have? have you tried smaller mices/rats? The one time we had a problem with our kingsnake the only thing that worked was giving her small rats

I don't think you are cruel at all

I am already on RFUK and have been given advice. The royal is just over 2 years old. He is going through a shed now anyway so i won't try him again with a feed until he has fully shed
