It's hard to give advice without all the information, but I'll try.
Providing the baby has already been a good feeder, then the problem may be a set-up one, (it's likely it was in a hatchling tub with the breeder, and is nowin a bigger enclosure, and cornsnakes like small, enclosed spaces, or it may simply be that it is used to warm food, and doesn't recognise a cold prey item.
As has been said, your son could warm it over water etc, although I use a hairdrier for mine, or pop them under a lightbulb for thirty seconds or so. Braining is also a good idea, as is simply leaving the food in overnight with the snake if it doesn't strike feed, some can be 'shy' feeders. If that doesnt work, then he could try putting the corn in an empty wax worm tub with a brained pinky overnight.
I am assuming the 'dead mouse' is a pinky mouse, and that he has been shown by the seller how to feed it?
I hope this is of some help at least. If the baby has had several feeds with the breeder, then it should be Ok for a good couple of months or so without any food, and if he still has problems, the breeder should offer advice when he/she gets back.
