Re: first snake

BRBs are a stunning snake. they reach about 7 or 8 feet and live about 20 years.
They do need high humidity levels of about 80/90% as they are prone to dehydration, so consider a fibreglass viv that has height as they love to climb. use coco fibre as a substrate as this can be dampened to help with moisture levels. viv temps are normally around 80F with a basking area around 85F. night temps drop to about 73F ceramic bulbs are quite drying and heat mats are not suitable so think about what heating equipment you will use. they also need a bowl big enough to soak in.
They can be quite nippy and some dont take to well to being handled.
If you have never owned a snake before i would say have a good think about it before buying one as they are not an ideal first snake.
Good luck.

Re: first snake

Thats really not begginers snake at all, get yourself a corn snake instead! you could always have a rainbow once you`ve gained a bit of experience. When my 7ft rainbow decides shes not happy with you its really no joke so think carefully, then theres the specialist care, really not for begginers.

Re: first snake

I have to agree with some of the comments made, they aren't a beginners snake & can be tempremental beautiful snakes though, if the humidity isn't right it causes problems with shedding, luckily ours was & still is a good feeder, but I've known of a few that aren't we gave ours to my nephew to make room for 2 larger tanks for our burmese pythons

Re: first snake

If you don`t maintain the humidity correctly you`ve got all sorts of problems, respiratory problems and shedding. The substrate needs watching and changing more often too as it can get mouldy causing more problems. Theres so many more suitable begginers snakes, you`ll be hooked ! snake keeping is so enjoyable!
