Unhappy Got to rehome my beautiful boa

I've got a gorgeous male common boa called Arnie. He's got to be almost 2 years old now and I've had him since he was a tiddler. He's happy, got a nice set-up, never missed a feed and a chunky 6ft long. I just don't feel like I have the time for him like I used to. I can't get him out as often as I struggle on my own, and we're expecting a baby late summer and I'm worried he'll get forgotten about more. So, with a heavy heart I'm going to start looking for a nice new home for him where he can receive the handling he needs, more regularly. I'm absolutely gutted but I want whats best for him, heres the big man himself:
When I first got him:

Re: Got to rehome my beautiful boa

Have you had much interest?

Snakes are suffering a bit at the moment, the amount of pets being released into the wild is just crazy. We've had some pretty scary ones bought in to us!

He is a stunner though.

Re: Got to rehome my beautiful boa

I've not advertised him yet - I don't think I will have a problem rehoming him its just to the right person that is the problem! I ideally want someone who has experience with larger snakes so that he doesn't get passed on and on, I feel bad enough that he will be unsettled once leaving here.

I'm hoping to advertise him within the next month, so I'm just making the most of the time I have left Lots of baths and chilling on the sofa. he enjoys eying up the cats as well lol!

I wouldn't dream of letting him out! How horrible! It's such a shame about the lack of understanding and knowledge people have when taking on a reptile.

Re: Got to rehome my beautiful boa

Someone is coming to have a look at Arnie tonight and potentially offer him a new home. He seems genuine enough but I'm not frightened to turn him down if I don't get a god vibe! It's all become quite real now and I will miss him. I just hope he's happy in his new home and well cared for.
So I will only have Evie (the royal python) and Lilo (my crested gecko) left in my reptile collection, it feels strange as we used to have a whole bedroom dedicated to leopard geckos, snakes, beardies and bugs. But I suppose priorities change...

Re: Got to rehome my beautiful boa

No! The guy who was supposed to be coming was a total let down and text me 10mins before he was due to arrive (after we'd moved a 4ft viv upstairs and some furniture around to get his vivarium out easier!) saying his girlfriend has said no as they're expecting a baby soon. Surely he would have already known this!? He asked me to take the advert off too as he was 'definitely going to have him'. Well, I've learned from that one! I've relisted him, and asked for less money so I'm just waiting for the ad on Gumtree to be approved (although he is advertised in many other places). I hate people who mess around, I was so angry! But relieved in one way as I want him to go to a forever home and not be passed on - and he clearly would have been sold on with this guy. Hoping to have some interest this week.

Re: Got to rehome my beautiful boa

what a shame i had snakes round my kids when they were babies , was never a problem , they still had one to one time when my babies were asleep and it was good for me as spending time with them allowed me to relax and switch off for a little while , i`d definitely have a rethink about letting him go as it may be a decision you come to regret , my only advice is to keep vivs locked to keep little fingers out , result is kids and snakes safe and happy

Re: Got to rehome my beautiful boa

Have you tried a reptile forum?

I'd personally avoid places like gumtree/preloved.
