Re: should i be getting more concerned about monty??

Firstly, try not to worry. Royals are notorious for fasting for long periods, especially if something is not quite right in their environment. As others have said, find yourself a reputable reptile shop local to you that can offer you some advice on getting the temperature and humidity right.
My female royal went absolutely ages without a feed (around 9/10 months I think) and I begin to really worry. The general consensus when I asked people for advice was an eye roll and they told me not to worry as its so common. In the end I put her into a small terrarium inside her current viv with just a hide and water bowl. After a week or two I tried her on a gerbil - which I sourced from a local reptile shop as I have heard royals can't resist them! I barely got the thing in front of her hide and she snapped it up
However, now I'm stuck in that all she'll eat is gerbils So only try the gerbils as a last resort once you've corrected the other problems, and if you don't mind a bit of a challenge switching back to rats!
Good luck x

at you burying the rats! You'll have a pretty full garden in no time. I'm lucky as I defrost one rat at if the royal refuses, the boa gets it. No waste
Have you got some ordinary kitchen scales? You can put a big bowl on and zero the scales and then put him in. Keep an eye on his weight at least monthly but weekly is better. You also need to make sure he's drinking plenty so maybe a bath would encourage that? Concentrate on getting his vivarium perfect first and then hopefully you won't have to resort to more drastic measures.
My royal is still a picky eater but I don't worry so much now if she looks bright and is still shedding, drinking, moving about ok.
Good luck.

please don`t bury the dead rodents in your garden , especially if you have a nice one by the time they`ve been left with monty for 24hrs they`re gonna pong and you could risk having your garden dug up by animals such as foxes and cats among other furries.

Re: should i be getting more concerned about monty??

oh i have loadsa pots in my garden so i burry them deep and underneath pots. i couldnt bare throwing one away ive always ben brought up 2 belive a life is a life no matter what it is bred for and should be given a propper send off to help it reach the other side. i no that sounds stupid but its a firm belief i have and i would be racked with guilt if i binned one
should my snake be any certain weight and is any weight worrying and any weight range ok for him to be?
ive got to get his temps right as my flat went reli cold the other night as my gas went so his temps have dropped and im gettin worried. i also wou nd up as they guy i got him off lives in the same town as me and said any help i need i could text him and he would keep in touch and help me as i got monty alot quicker than i exspected as wasnt fully prepared. i am also not sure wether to keep him or not as all this him not eating and his viv bein not right is my fault and im worried it will end up harming him. i really worried that im such a rubbish owner that ill end up killing him and i dont want that to happen. if he was a cat dog rabbit hamster ect i would know what to do ive had them all my life and anything about them i can fix and no what to do but monty is my first snake and i dont no what im doing at all. im failing him as a a owner im the worst snake owner ever
