New corn shake babies

My husband has been researching for about 2 years now on lots of different snakes and finally decided the time was right to get one. Well he came home with not one but two beautiful carolina corn snakes aged 7 weeks old. I must admit i'm not too keen on reptiles, I much prefer my dogs but these babies are beautiful and have surprised myself at how much I like them and have even been handling them.
Here they are.

I never realised the typo . My husband has wanted a snake for a very long time. At first I kept saying No, probably because snakes make me feel a little uneasy. I don't mind watching them but the thought of them out of the viv terrified me lol but the more snakes I have seen the better I have got. Then a couple of years ago I said Ok if a snake means that much to you then we will have one. I do actually really like them now though

Thanks, The breeder told my husband that the one on the right kept striking out and biting alot to start with but is now very tame thanks to a lot of handling.

corn snakes can be cannibalistic , specially younger ones , as long as they are both the same size , plenty of hides should not be too much of a problem , tho many advise against it

Re: New corn shake babies

We have ours separate as was advised this by the reptile specialist. We knew they could be kept together from reading up about them but decided because we have enough room we will do seperate tanks for them. They are both doing really well.

Re: New corn shake babies

Congratulations on your new snakes! I used to keep corn snakes when I lived in the UK. I really liked my corns, one was a normal and the other was anerythristic. They were very tame and docile. The more you handle them, the better they get. I have only ever heard of accidental cannibalism if they both try to eat the same food item, say a mouse, with one snake engulfing the head end and the other the tail end. One snake will swallow the whole mouse and keep going until it swallows the other snake too! I think this is very rare mind you. This problem can be overcome by feeding the snakes separately which is what I used to do.
