heat lamp

Hi all, i know this is a very stupid question... but here goes!

my snakes viv aint been getting up to temp, so ive given in the old matt and bought a infrared bulb and its hooked on to a thermostat. Is it right in the the bulb is continously flashing.... is this a fault... or does it mean the thermostat is doing its but and its simply regulating the temperature??
cheers, han

Re: heat lamp

you need to make sure the wattage of the lamp is in conjunction with the holder. what stat is it with? the infra red bulbs dim when they are cooling down and brighten up when it needs to get hotter. what temp do you have it kept at?
also is the bulb guarded?

i find that a ceramic bulb works better too.
