Female Guinea needs a new home
My daughter (now 21 and either away at University or travelling) has had guinea pigs for the last 10/11 years. During this time I've also had four children, a retriever and cats to look after.
I told her that when the older guinea pig in this pair died, I didn't feel able to take on yet another new one. The elder one died (aged 7) two weeks ago. I was upset, and my daughter distraught. She was home last week for 3 days and I very gently introduced the idea of re-homing the younger one. Lily (the guinea pig, not the daughter!) is lost without her companion, has lost quite a bit of weight, and is generally miserable.
My daughter is adamant that Lily should not be re-homed, but I feel that is unfair to her - she is pining and needs a friend.
Does anyone have any words of wisdom on this one?
We live in North London (near Muswell Hill) and ideally I'd like a family fairly close by who could offer Lily a loving home, with visitation rights for my daughter....
All help/ suggestions gratefully received.
Lily is approx 4 years old, a short-haired tre-colour with a friendly personality. I don't know how to upload photos, but could probably find a teenager to help me if necessary!!
