Rotastak is junk but...

I knoticed that lots of people hate rotastak. After spending £40 as I did not know any better I decided instead of throwing it out that I would actually do something with it (I have 2 gerbils). After hours and hours of trying out new layouts that they could 'actually' get around in I came up with this:

There are 4 sections the first floor which is two of those round parts there is an area for their treets and an area for their ball which they like to play with (it's one of those kinds with a bell) The second floor has their wooden toy and their excersise wheel. The top floor (for easy daily access) has their food and water on it. In the very bottom floor is their tank. This is where I put any boxes I have for them to chew up and where they can burrow they chose to sleep down there too and any bedding I give them they take down there.

It's a nightmare to clean and takes me close to 30 mins but all in all I used my rotastak for something that is relativly decent. Eventually I intend on getting a bigger tank and using the other section that I have laying around.

And these are the inhabitance which are curently sleeping:

Re: Rotastak is junk but...

awww, I don't have a problem with Rotastak...

I would have a young Syrian in them and have had my dwarfs in them...but once they are too big to get through the tubes, they get a different cage. I think as long as you have enough compartments then small furbabies are ok in them...and you can vary them too!!

Saying that, none of mine are in Rotastaks anymore...just because they are a pain in the botty to clean!!

Your little gerbilarium looks really cool...plenty of fun and variation for the gerbils!! they are cute! x

Re: Rotastak is junk but...

my syrian escaped from it when I first got him. But they do those metal ring protecters now which are on everything that touches my gerbils cages! If they didn't have them they would be out in seconds! They love it though! They jump up diffirent levels and I can change it around. Now I have some more metal protectors I am thinking of extending it onto the Shelf and using ladders to help them up to give them some extra space. They are deffinatly spoilt! My hamsters are getting customized cages at the end of this month I'm just waiting on the guy at the pet shop.
