Re: Some of my lovely cavies

Wow they are gorgeous!! I know my friend has a couple of lunka, and I am not keen if I am honest but I love the hairless ones, lol!!
If I was to keep a longhair it would probably be a Sheltie or Coronet.

Re: Some of my lovely cavies

They are gorgeous! I especially love OLE! Never seen a magpie peruvian before! I have a slate and white peruvian sow, who looks similar to your boy from birds eye view! I presume you breed, do you also show then?
I breed cream/buff/rew selfs, and ocassinally abyssinians+peruvians.
Im new to this site, so havent really got to know anyone yet, just curious?

Re: Some of my lovely cavies

Hi,
I would llike to show more, but it is quite hard, because the hair of the longhaired cavies is not allowed to be dammaged in any way
I had a few litters and keeped 4 white Lunkaryagirls to show them next year, well there are only 2 left. The other 2 girls have been chewed a bit
But I have still some litters on the way so hopfuly have a nice group of peruvians and lunkaryas for 2009

The Lunkaryascoat is relay harsh and ther for stand up in all diregtions. The babys are about 5 month old be for I have to wrap there bottomcoat untill then i just have to keep them relay clean and keep fingers crossed that they donīt get chewed.
All of my boys live in pairs and my girls live in big groups. I think it is not right to keep them single just because of showing

Re: Some of my lovely cavies

I agree, with long hairs, if you want to show you need to keep their coat perfect, hence not housing them with other piggies that will chew their fur, but when you have so many piggies, you feel cruel not keeping them in pairs/groups etc! My peruvian is top quality, and always done well in shows, but she was my only piggy not in a pair so i bonded her with my aby and they got on so well, but within a few days she didnt have much of a coat left! LOL! Ive always wanted to breed teddies, but they have to be one of the hardest to show, because even if they have the smallest patch of "flat hair" its a fault! and when i had a few teddies before i could never groom them perfectly for the show, thats why i love my selfs!!

Wow another piggy show person!
I do show but dont have the space to breed so I show my golden oldies, they rarely get anywhere but up in the North East its taking part that counts, lol!!
