Hi everyone,

We have now homed all the babies apart from three girls that we are goo sitting before their new owner can take them. The seven boys sadly had to go back to Pets at Home. We have kept 2 girls and 1 Girl went to a local rescue centre where they had a very lonely girl who had lost her sister after three years. We were reluctant at first but it seemed unfiar to leave one on it's own. They have a prosepctive new home too!

We adopted 2 female degus from Pets at Home, which have since had babies. They were both already pregnant when we resucued them but we didn't know!
The have since had a litter each - seven born 6/2/08 and six born 15/02/08.
They're are 8 males and 5 Girls. We can only home two of the girls, leaving 11 babies to find new homes for. We don't want to take them back to the Pet store as the same thing may happen to someone else if they mix them up!
We have to remove the boys from the cage by the 15/16th of march as we don't want more babies.
Can anyone help? We are not charging for them but they have to go to suitable homes. Please email andsam@clara.co.uk we live near Newmarket, Suffolk on the Cambridgeshire border.

Hi Julie,

We haven't managed to home any, and we are on a waiting list to home them at the rescue centre. We actually think we have 7 boys and 6 girls. We only wanted to keep 2 girls really but if you only want 3 we will keep the third. Then we will only be taking the boys back to the store, so at least they can't get pregnant! Pets at Home have said they will take them into their adoption centre as it was their fault the situation occurred in the first place. We didn't want to do this but have no choice. We will however ensure they are sexed correctly and check their habitat etc before we leave them. We have already removed 5 of the boys out of the main cage so we don't have anymore unwanted babies. The others are due to be seperated on wednesday and we will be taking them to the Pet store for adoption. It is very sad as they are so adorable but it would not be fair to keep so many and after having one male neutered I don't think I could go through having 7 more done let alone the cost!
Are you already a seasoned Degu owner? We would prefer to drop them over to you so we can see their new home. Our son is quite upset that their going back to the pet shop and would be happier to see them go to a loving home. Please reply before weds 26th as they will be leaving us then.

Not sure if you recieved my email I would love to take the three girls (cant talk my boyfriend into four) Ideally on the 12th but I can have them sooner as I have found someone to feed them while im away for the weekend.
