Can you breed rats when you have a full time job?

Hiya

I would love to breed rats in the future. I plan to move to a house that has a spare room so the rats will have plenty of space. However, I will be working full time, so is it sensible to breed rats when I am working full time? Obviously, when it is near their due date, I'll try to work fewer hours so the new-to-be mothers won't be left alone too long in case something goes wrong, or even take days off. But the rest of the time, I will be working full time. I will handle the kits in the evenings, mornings, days off so they will be properly socialised.

Alot of breeders work full time and breed, and manage it fine.

that's great to hear. I am really excited about it and I'm really preparing for it. I won't start breeding for 4-5 years yet but I want to be ready when the time comes.

It's as important to know you will have the demand to home them -there are too many rats in rescue and bearing in mind they can have large litters then if you work on the principal of keeping the ones you can't home then it can soon become a lot of rats.
