Re: Should I worry? :(

Ok so he's still doing it so I'm going to phone up the vets tomorrow and try to get him an appointment for Tuesday... I've never taken him to the vets before does anyone know how much it will cost? Or how much the antibiotics will cost if he does have an infection?

Re: Should I worry? :(

you sure its not his mating noise. one of my male syrians (toupe) will call out a kind of popping noise when he is out and can smell the females.

its a funny sort of noise and does kinda sound like what you are discribing.

Re: Should I worry? :(

I would take him just to be on the safe side, just for a small animall check up my vet would charge around £10-15 with any Baytril or other medications costing about another £5, mention that you are a hard up student and they might charge less.

Yeah maybe... but I don't have any female hamsters!! So I don't know what he would be smelling unless Poppet is a girl lol

And thanks TDM, I thought it would be a lot more than that! I think I'd rather just take him to be safe... I can ask about the sneezing whilst I'm there as well

Re: Should I worry? :(

even if it is him calling for a female i would still take him to vets to be safe rather than sorry

Yeah same... I would quite like to see if anything can be done about his sneezing as well as he still sneezes quite a lot and I don't know why

Hopefully he will be ok until Tuesday
