here are my rat cages

in the furet(top cage)there is 2 male rats ages 16 months



and in the freddy 2 there is 3 male rats aged 4 months

The animals of the house...
Rabbits: Angus (lionhead) and the nethie gang
Hamster: syrains reggie (long haired) ans (short haired) scooby
Dog:Alfie (soft coated wheaten terrier)
cat: bramble (silver tabby)

I think a freddy 2 cage is too small for 3 males. it's ok at the moment, but they need a freddy max 2 or a freddy 3 once they are older. freddy 2 cages really only hold 2 males or 3 females. but nice pictures anyway.

fancy rats cage calculator says 3 rats.besides males slow down with age and are less active.

Yeah but males tend to not be as active as females. Most are perfectly happy to stay in their hammocks. With enough out time it's more than adequate for 3.

thanx red you see my point.all my rats(7) of them all come out for over an hour everyday.
my older boys who are 16 months old have a 15 min run about and then for the rest of the hour or so just sit or go to sleep.

when there in there cage all they do is sleep and eat.which is what my 3 younger lads who are in the freddy will do as they get older.
