Long Haired Syrian

Hey, this is Rolo.. i've never seen or kept a long haired before, but im pretty sure he is, as his coat has almost doubled in size in a week! just wondered if they require different care, and any advice on suitbale wheels etc. And he tends to sleep alot he never gets up till very late. I've woken him up a few times, is that the best way to try get him up earlier? thanks.

Re: Long Haired Syrian

He's gorgeous, and I can see why he is named Rolo! Good choice. Long haired hammies aren't much more to care for, you just have to give them a brush every few days to keep them from getting tangled up. I find a cheap toothbrush from Tesco works well for this!

Only other thing, make sure he has an 8inch wheel, otherwise his hair could get tangled up in it. But he's need that size of wheel when he's fully grown anyway, I just advise you buy it sooner rather than later!

My syrian was the same when i first had her and i did exactly what you are doing. I got her into a routine of coming out when I wanted her too not just when she woke up and so every night at the same time i would get her out for a good hour until eventually she woke up at that time and asked to come out. Its all about routine i think!
