I had the shock of my life yesterday...

I had a phone call from my husband saying that mr chip had managed to open his cage door and he was missing so i spent the whole day worrying and phoning him up to check whether he'd managed to find him to no avail.

I didnt get home until 9.30pm (i got the phone call at 8am!!) thats a long day full of worrying and i probably added a few greys to my nice brown hair so anyway i get home and look around for mr chip and cant see him so i lie on the kitchen floor and look under the dishwasher and call his name......out he strolls and comes and sits on my arm the cheeky little thing has had an adventure whilst ive been worried sick!!

Im so glad he comes to his name

Any ideas how to hamster proof the cage doors??

How did you manage to train him to come when called? That's amazing! Lucky you got him back! Maybe you could put a small padlcok on his cage door. That might work unless he can pick locks too, lol! I had a worrying morning last week - I got half way to work and couldn't remember locking my cham's cage. I had done it - it's one of those things you do automatically and don't remember! Phew!

I used to use clothes pegs on the door when I had an Imac fantasy with a very loose fitting door.

My Syrian Chesnie comes to me when I call her name. I think they are very clever!!

You are welcome Sarah. I think my friend got a pack of 3 from the pound shop. Little ones ya no. He just left the keys in the locks. Hammies could chew pegs...same with string and stuff.
