What cage/food/sawdust/treats is best?

I have posted this in other sections but was advised to post here aswell.

I am looking to get a syrian hammy and have been told the Hamster heaven is a good cage to get.

I also have 6 cats and 6 dogs so need a cage that is safe for the hammy.

Another thing is where do you all get ur food and sawdust from???

What food is best??

What treats do you use??

Do you recommend the ball for them to run around in??

Re: What cage/food/sawdust/treats is best?

I use the giant balde of wood shavings from P@H, cos it gets used for my rats too. Lasts months and doesn't take up too much room.

Food: I just use Harry Hamster

There is a list of treats at the top of the rodents section

Ball is good to run around in but not for any longer than 20 minutes at a time

Peace

Re: What cage/food/sawdust/treats is best?

Yes the hamster heaven is a good cage, should be nice and safe, Savic cages are a good make. As for your questions

Another thing is where do you all get ur food and sawdust from??? My woodshavings come from Tesco (avoid sawdust as it can irriate their eyes and noses).

What food is best?? I use Harry Hamster mixed in with Tesco's own brand. It's work out a bit cheaper this way but they still get everything they need.

What treats do you use?? Rotastak chocolate, milk and yoghurt drops. Hanging sticks I buy in Tesco, and Naturals treat range.

Do you recommend the ball for them to run around in?? Yes, mine all love their ball. But no more than 20 minutes at a time, or they can overheat.

Whats the safest cleaner to use for the cage?? I just use a little bit of fairy liquid. I don't feel the fancy pet cage cleaners do any different than the normal one.

I use the one from P@H for small animals, its ace for ridding the cage of nasty smells, but make sure to rinse it afterwards just to make sure there isnt any trace of the cleaner left in the cage.

I have a few hammies and i have allsorts of different cages lying around My fave for my syrian Mr Chip is huge, not sure what make it is though but it looks like a house its huge! He has plenty of space to run around and has enough space for a large running wheel and toys etc

I use Harry hamster food and i buy a big bale of sawdust from P@H which lasts my 4 hammies months!
