rodents and rentals.
In your experiances what is it like to find a place that will let you keep hamsters?? My housing options are a bit limited and I'm wondering if landlords kick up a big stink about having hamsters/gerbils in their properties. My landlady has decided she wants us to move out by september (I was told I'd be here for years before that so this is new). So I will start my search soon. Just wondering what others have found.

Re: rodents and rentals.
Yeah they will love me with 10 hamsters.... lol woodshavings go everywhere! The only thing I can think of is lining the carpet with news paper. Imac cages are lovely for the hammy but make a nasty mess.
The gerbils are in a glass cage and so is Hiro. But narla is in a 3 story imac and Rina,Riku,Risa and Tama are in a 2 level imac. I have 5 cages... I am worried... They might say yes to 'a hamster' but not 10... is what i am worried about |

i havnt told them about my rabbit...or the other 6 hamsters! haahaaa they dont come and check! if it is student renting i doubt they will care! they make you pay a deposit for a reason and are used to things getting smashed with drunk students!

Re: rodents and rentals.
It probably won't be student accomodation. I can probably hide some of them somewhere. The landlord here did come in the house. To fix things, etc which is why I kept them in my bedroom. She NEVER went in my bedroom. I would have been upset if she did too because it's my private space. We want to keep them in the livingroom because we are probably going to have a 2 bedroom place and have to share with my daughter.
I am hoping it won't be student accomodation.... I want a residentual long hold lease! I am sick of 6 month student leases. I don't want to move anymore. My NHS bursery isn't enough to pay rent from so I still have to get housing benifit Thats why it's so limited for accomodation. Hopefully I can hide them somewhere like I did here and hopefully i don't have a nosey landlord. |

Re: rodents and rentals.
I hate landlords, our old one marched in when she wanted without notice and after saying that we were allowed to keep caged pets, she went back on her word and decided that either they leave or she would evict us!
![]() We were not giving any of our pets away, so we marched to the local estate agents and found a new house to rent. Our current landlady doesn't mind us keeping animals thank god, and it's stated so in our Tenency Agreement so she can't do anything about it ![]() But we're moving into our first proper home together later on this year and we'll be getting out first dog together then ![]() |
