Are hamsters OK for people with asthma? my mum has asthma.

My housemate has asthma and we have 11 hammies and a gerbil. He is fine and has never complained of discomfort!

It does depend if the individual person is allergic to the individual animal. Also sometimes certain types of bedding can be quite dusty so you might have to experiment until you find one that's low dust.

It always depends on the person and the severity of the asthma, however my Mum has severe asthma and we've always had hamsters. The only thing she finds bothers her is bird feathers.

My daughter and me both have asthma and we are fine, if your worried could you borrow a friends hamster overnight or something to see if your mum is affected.
