4 day old guinea pig help please

1 of the baby pigs had a sticky eye so i took him from cage and cleaned it but both eyes look misty.
it also walks around the cage as if its blind not knowing where its going.
is euthenasia the best option? i just dont know what to do as ive never come across this before!
will it be ok to live blind?
i dont feel thats a life for a guinea pig to live blind but maybe im wrong.
please help.

Re: 4 day old guinea pig help please

i have been advised that this is probably the protective film that is over there eyes and that it should clear in a few days.
i will continue to bathe the gunky eye without panicking lol

if it dont clear i will take him to the vets for them to have a look and see what they think.

Re: 4 day old guinea pig help please

I was always under the impression that they were born as miniture of there parents and there eyes were open to. Are you sure it hasnt a eye infection. I hope all goes ok and it gets better very soon. Is it the cornea thats cloudy or the whole eye area.

Re: 4 day old guinea pig help please

i am very relieved i really did get a fright!!!

after looking at him again its like a thin film of sleep over the eye and it looks like it moves when he blinks so im not as worried anymore.
no i dont think its an infection as ive now spoken to 3 guinea breeders and all say the same thing that the eye protector can sometimes make the eye sticky and im to bathe it 3 times a day and it will clear.

soooooooooo pleased i didnt have to make a hard decission
