they were from a breeder and were supposed to be hand tame when I got them but they aren't, I have sat there with them and the one who does nip will take treat from me but thats it, I can pick the other one up but he is scared and once weed all over me bless him, I suppose it will just take time and perseverance on my behalf, just hope they come around as I love rats and love to be hands on with them
Oh ok, sorry the moment you mentioned nipping I automatically thought pet shop rat lol....

At the end of the day you have only had them for 2 weeks, I am sure they will come round given time.

ha ha thats OK I can understand why you would think it, my first ever rat about 15 years ago showing my age now lol was from a pet shop and was so friendly but I know this is the exception to the rule, my last two were rescue one and came around eventually but none have ever nipped me, thanks for your help and will let you know how I get on lol sorry for taking over your thread, your rats really ar gorgeous

Re: My boys!!

Aw, they are lovely.

As for taming the rats i had a bit of trouble with my girls and they still don;t like me putting my hand in the cage but i think they are just protectingf the territory, i just let them come out on their own and then pick them up and then they are fine!! Good luck x
