Yes he was Popeye - thats the name P@H gave him, but we tried calling him it and didn't seem to suit him so he's now Poppet

And oooh what makes u say he's a boy? I think he is... but don't want to stress him out too much by trying to find out lol

Hah, well if you look at the second picture it looks like his balls are starting to show and for all the female pictures I've seen they are pretty much flat back there I also like the name Poppet more than Popeye, it's cute

Yes me too And yes he does seem to have the male bottom/balls shape lol but I haven't seen a female so didn't have anything to compare it to!!!

How old is he?? Have you checked this website??Hamster sexing - National Hamster Council Theres a Campbells about halfway through, and its a 5 week old male, and yours has balls that are similar in size.. possibly a little larger

Is there actually a difference between campbells and winter whites? Apart from the fact that the winter whites change colour or did I just make that up lol

Well, I'm not 100% on the differences, This is from u-look-like-a-hamster's hamster caresheet thread "Winter whites are very vocal and make the same noises as mentiond above, just more often, Females are more socialble, anddont tend to squeal at you, whereas males, wil get stressed if you try to hold them, WW come in a fewdifferent colours ranging from pearl to grey, all having dorsal stripes, pure WW turn white in winter, because of the sunlight hours changing.
Campbells come in more of a variety of colours , like black to beige, being the same main species as WW they look similar, only few hamster owners can tell the difference.
People often mistakenly breed WW & campbles together, resulting in hybrids which is unhealthy for they hamster , but most commonly found, if a male WW is mated witha female campbel, the female will die in birth because the ww babies are too big for them to be pushed out so breeding is never a good idea. Neither breeds do well living together.Both live to about 1 1/2- 2 1/2 years"

Although all hamsters are different, and p@h tend to get the crossbreds campbells x Winter Whites.

Oh ok, I wondered if Poppet could be a WW? Or he could be the cross bred variety if that exists, I thought it was impossible to breed the two though?
