Hi,
My name is Amanda, Im a new Guinea pig owner I have a a 3yr old inherited Guinea called Simon which we have had since december and he is a wee honey, very sociable and chatty with me and kids. The problem is we felt sorry for him being on his own and got him a wee pal called Derek who is approx 5mnths(according to Pet shop). We did all the intros nice and slow on neutral ground and they both were great together doing all the right moves and making all the right noises, after 6 wks of them living together in harmony I went to feed them last thurs morning and Simon's ear had been torn. The vet treated his ear and recommended we keep them apart which is what we have done. What I really need to find out is what next? are my wee luvveys destined to be apart for the rest of there days or is there something else I could do?. There is so much conflicting advice out there that the last thing I want to do is put the Guineas into a dangerous situation where they might hurt each other again.Hence the reason I have come to you guys as I have read some great advice on this site. Can any one help !!!!!!!!!!!! Thanx Amanda |

I have bred guinea pigs for a few years now,if your males have been around females in the past or you or your neighbors have females within earshot your males will fight. You could try having them neutered but it can be costly and there is a chance it may not work even then.I'm sorry this probably wasn't the answer you wanted but i would rather be honest with you.
