Angry Warning Do Not Use This On Mice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm posting this as a warning in the hope that it will save some one else going through what I did. I took my mice to the vet to get checked out. I'm a new mouse owner and have done my research. Lots of it. The vet decided that the mice had mites and gave me drops - Xenex Ultra - and said one drop would be enough. Having done my research, and trusting my vet as any normal person would, I gave the drop to each of my mice. Within forty minutes I was rushing back to the vet at 70 miles an hour. Two of my mice died on the way to the vet and the vet put the other one down on the spot because she was in so much pain. And what made it worse was that Boo was pregnant. They started taking serous convulsions - almost like watching an epileptic or some one going into anaphylactic shock. Turns out the medicine was the one only to be used on rabbits and large rodents like guinea pigs, so it was a major overdose. Please, please, please check online or on the forums before giving a mouse medicine. I won't be making the same mistake ever again. Needless to say that I am finding another vet for my new meeces. One who will at least check things out before giving me a medicine.

Sob!! I miss my mice!! I was so upset!!!

Obviously, mistakes can be made but did your vet at least apologise and refund any treatment costs?

I'm really sorry to hear about your loss

Re: Warning Do Not Use This On Mice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

aw poor bumkins! wasn't your fault try not to blame yourself (if you are)

I'd write a letter of complaint to the vets and if that brings nothing to their governing body and the RVC (if it's not one in the same??).

you should def get a full refund and apology.
